If you have one of the early marine versions of Perkins 4.203 with the paper oil filters inside a re-usable steel housing, then you will know what a messy business it is to do an oil change. A lot of oil can end up in the bilge!
Our aftermarket oil filter conversion kit (which includes a genuine OE Perkins Filter) can help, as it uses a strak readily available ‘spin on’ canister type filter, that will lose a lot less oil when it is being changed. The filter hangs vertically below the aluminium filter head that is designed to bolt directly to the engine block fitting. To ensure that the filter assembly will not foul your engine bearer, note that the distance from the engine block mounting bolts to the bottom of the filter is 160 mm.
