Reefer Gray is a historically inspired medium grauw, based on the utilitarian finishes seen on refrigerator cars (“reefers”) and support equipment from the steam and early diesel eras. Its slightly warm hue reflects both aged aluminum finishes and sun-faded paint, making it ideal for weathered freight cars, industrial machinery, and structural elements in model railroads. This versatile tone is neutral enough to serve as a basecoat or highlight when building realistic rolling stock or maintenance-of-way vehicles.
